Why Google ads are not showing: reasons and solutions
Advertising in Google Ads is a powerful tool for attracting clients. But sometimes, after launching a campaign, you may notice that ads are not displayed in search. Below we go through the main reasons why this happens and how to fix the problem.

1. The ad is under moderation
After an ad campaign is created, Google checks the ads for compliance with the rules.
🕒 The check can take from a few hours to 1 business day.
What to do:
Wait for the moderation approval. If the ad is rejected, check the reason in the Ad status section.
2. Low Quality Score
Google takes into account the relevance of keywords, texts and the landing page.
If the score is low, ads may not be shown.
Solution:
- Use relevant keywords in the text and on the page.
- Raise CTR and website loading speed.
- Watch the user experience (UX).
3. A bid that is too low
If your bid is below the average for the niche, Google simply will not show the ads.
What to do:
- Raise the cost-per-click bid (CPC).
- Use automated strategies: Maximize clicks or Target CPA.
4. A limited daily budget
If the set budget is too small, ads may stop after a few clicks.
Tip:
Increase the daily limit and distribute the budget evenly across the days of the week.
5. Mistakes in targeting settings
You may accidentally set:
- a geolocation that is too narrow,
- a limited display time,
- the wrong language settings.
Check:
the Locations, Ad schedule and Languages tabs in the campaign settings.
6. A conflict with other campaigns
If several ads target the same keywords, they may compete with each other.
Recommendation:
Split keywords across campaigns or ad groups.
7. A violation of Google Ads policy
Google strictly prohibits advertising of certain categories (weapons, medicines, gambling, etc.).
Solution:
Check the Google advertising policy rules and adjust the ad.
8. The ad gets no impressions because of a low CTR
Google may “downgrade” impressions if users rarely click on your ad.
What to do:
- Make headlines more attractive.
- Add calls to action.
- Use extensions (links, phone, address, etc.).
9. Technical reasons
Sometimes ads do not show because of:
- errors in conversion tracking,
- broken links,
- incorrect UTM tags.
Check all URLs and make sure the website is available.
